INTRODUCTION

The Ground School Instructor will assist in the development and presentation of the company’s FAA approved training program.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Develop and present classroom instruction for new employees as well as recurrent, transition, upgrade and requalification training; continuously monitor and evaluate program to determine efficacy; administer performance and written tests in a fair, objective manner.
  2. Develop training materials coordinated with training curricula, including but not limited to handouts, text books, tests, syllabi and lesson plans; develop and maintain on-line testing; develop training bulletins; coordinate with distance learning provider for revisions and improvement to courses.
  3. Develop, audit and maintain flight training manuals as it pertains to ground school training; maintain appropriate forms, documents, visual aids and other media to enhance training experience.
  4. Complete training records timely and accurately; ensure records are forwarded to Records Coordinator in a timely manner; discuss results and concerns regarding proficiency promptly with Flight Training Manager.
  5. Maintain familiarity and knowledge of new concepts and innovations, changes in regulations, procedures and improvements concerning the safe operations of all Company aircraft; maintain full knowledge of all applicable policies, procedures, manuals, handbooks and protocol.
  6. Serve as positive role model for ethical behavior and promote an awareness and understanding of positive ethical and moral principles that are consistent with these principles; provide guidance, direction, management and support in a secure and dignified work environment; serve as a positive, constructive, communicative leader for the Company and its customers and policies for the industry and its participants; promote and support the mission of Empire Airlines.
  7. Must obtain a Dispatcher Certification within 6-months and Flight Attendant Certification within 1-year.
  8. Other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma with previous experience as instructor, check airman or FAA examiner in aircraft and/or advanced simulators.  Previous or current Pilot experience preferred.  Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Must adhere to the Company’s FAA/DOT required Drug and Alcohol Program.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed primarily in an office environment with some outdoors and in an aircraft.  May require  travel to accomplish essential functions of the job.  Will be exposed to inclement weather.  Requires standing, walking, sitting, bending and stooping for extended periods of time.  May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.  Requires manual dexterity, speaking, seeing and hearing to conduct business.
