INTRODUCTION

The Contract Drone/UAS Pilot will help with aerial data capture, mapping, imaging and photography projects for the purposes of assisting the U.S. Forest Service fight and control forest fires. This position requires a highly experienced Drone/UAS Pilot, firefighting and/or military backgrounds preferred.

The pilot must have a high work ethic, exercise sound judgement, be on an on-call status and must be able to work on short notice, within a 24 to 72-hour time frame. Must be willing to travel across the United States to locations being affected by forest fires. Must be FAA Part 107 certified with UAV flight experience.

The right candidate must be flexible with their schedule and work a 12-days on/2-days off rotation with duty days up to 12-hours per day. They must be open to traveling throughout the U.S.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Familiarity with fixed-wing and rotor drones, as well as data software applications.
  2. Must represent Empire Unmanned and their customer in a professional manner.
  3. Ability to proactively evaluate circumstances and drive the resolution of issues while exercising sound decisions and judgements.
  4. Must be able to multi-task and complete work objectives with great efficiency and effectiveness.
  5. Must possess solid interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  6. Must be willing to help with other tasks related to UAS logistics and operations.
  7. Must have strong attention to detail and the ability to understand technical descriptions.
  8. Must maintain all assigned equipment, all equipment logs, and battery analysis.
  9. Provide a high degree of customer service.
  10. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Must have Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) operations experience and possess and maintain a FAA Part 107 certification, sUAS rating. Previous UAS/UAV exposure in forestry, firefighting and rescue preferred. Experience in UAS software and computer programs such as: DJI GO 4, DJI Ground Station Pro, Litchi, DroneDeploy, Airmap, PIX4D, Kittyhawk, B4UFly, UAV Forecast, Google Earth, 2-D and 3-D modeling, CAD, aerial data processing, aerial cinematography, or photogrammetry helpful. Valid driver’s license and good driving record required.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed primarily in an outdoor environment with travel throughout the U.S. required. Requires standing, walking, hiking, sitting, bending and stooping for extended periods of time.  May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.  Requires manual dexterity, speaking, seeing and hearing to conduct business.
