INTRODUCTION

The 121 Flight Standards Captain (FedEx & Ohana) is responsible to ensure the standardization of flight crew members to the standards of applicable CFRs, company policies and procedures, SOPs and aircraft operating parameters.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Work with Chief Pilot to ensure that company pilots are standardized to all applicable policies and procedures, to facilitate conformity and consistency throughout the line stations.
  2. Participate in selection, training and qualification of company checkairmen; coordinate periodic meetings with the checkairmen staff to assure standardization; provide and ensure periodic audits of the checkairmen to assure a high level of competency, standardization, compliance and safety in the performance of assigned duties; work with the Chief Pilot to evaluate and recommend pilots for upgrade, transition and equipment changes.
  3. Ensure that appropriate pilot qualification documentation is accurately completed and forwarded to the Pilot Record Department in a timely manner; report unsatisfactory performance of pilot checkride to the Chief Pilot and DO.
  4. Maintain a line check program to audit the standardization of line operations.
  5. Coordinate training curriculum development and presentation with the Flight Training Manager; coordinate the SOP development with the Chief Pilot; coordinate IEP and line check program.
  6. Serve as positive role model for ethical behavior and promote an awareness and understanding of positive ethical and moral principles that is consistent with these principles; provide guidance, direction, management and support in a secure and dignified work environment; promote and support the mission of Empire Airlines.
  7. Other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Current 121 Captain with previous supervisory or check pilot experience preferred.  Must have excellent communications skills, both oral and written, have a valid driver’s license with insurable record through Empire’s policy. Maintain currency and qualification as PIC and checkairman; maintain U.S. Passport.  Must adhere to the Company’s FAA/DOT required Drug and Alcohol Program.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in an office environment, outdoors and in an aircraft.  Will be exposed to inclement weather Requires standing, walking, sitting, bending and stooping for extended periods of time.  May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.  Requires manual dexterity, speaking, seeing and hearing to conduct business.
